Malcolm has been involved in some of the world's greatest sporting events, highlights include:
- The development and management of the 1990 New Zealand Commonwealth Games bid and management of the bid process through to its successful completion in LA in 1984.
- Sponsor and hospitality management of the inaugural Rugby World Cup 1987.
- Implemented the first worldwide television distribution programme for the 1990 Commonwealth Games which reached an accumulative audience for the closing ceremony of 300 million people.
- Responsible for the New Zealand and Australian operations for the Sydney 2000 Olympics including acquisition of hotel properties in Sydney.
- Development of pre and post tours for overseas clients from the key countries of Britain, South Africa, Germany, France, Canada and New Zealand.
Malcolm was also responsible for the development of the inaugural civilian rescue helicopter rescue service in New Zealand which was a world first for ocean helicopter rescue and was instrumental in the development of the first fully dedicated total air ambulance service in New Zealand and the Pacific. In 1995 Malcolm was awarded an OBE for services to the aeromedical industry.
